  • Is Joe Lumley better then Alex Smithies?

I personally wouldn’t want Alex Smithies back if given an option. I believe Lumley is better

    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

But luck runs out at some point and it comes down to ability . I agree with you I think he has been lucky on numerous occasions but I also think he’s a decent prospect .

I thought JL was the best keeper at the club last season, I have been shouting for this guy for a while, AS is a good keeper but I see greatness in JL.
          Kept the faith!

i voted joe lumley as i think he has more potential than smithies has. smithies was arguebly better though for us but joe has only played 15 or so games for us but he brings more to the table than smithies imo. he organizes the defence better thats for sure

Smithies better shot stopper. Lumley much better distribution and on crosses. And a very very good time waster. JN

Smithies for me as he won us a lot of points in teams that were struggling. Lumley has done very well and long may that continue.

Personally would rather have Lumley, mostly because he looks like he communicates with the back 4 more.

Does puzzle me why Cardiff don't play Smithies though.

I prefer Smithies. I think he sweeps up better. I think Smithies has better handling as well. Lumley is doing great, but I would go for Smithies personally. I think he would do so much better with this team than Holloways team in front of him.

Smithies wasn't playing well for Cardiff and then he was injured for 8 weeks up to beginning of November. Although a great keeper for us, there must have been a reason other clubs weren't queuing up for him.
Lumley will be worth a lot more when he eventually goes.

Loved Smithies and would much prefer him over Ingram. Him and Lumley are very good shot stoppers imo but for me Lumley has more of a presence and his distribution is spot on. Plus, he's younger and has so much potential. Lumley for me.
Don't care what anyone says though, Radek Cerny was the man.

No way is Lumley better than Smithies! However, he’s played better than expected.
