  • Do we have a problem on the horizon?

See the U23s are at Watford today, 0-4 up after 37 mins. Check 0-5 after 42mins
Paul Smyth, BOS, Furlong,Goss, Kakay, Oteh, Chair, Hamalainen, Owens all playing.
These boys are sticking it to most teams week in week out.
Are we going to have problems hanging on to them?
They're gonna want to play 1st team some already do.
I don't know who I would drop to put them in, that's the prob, and we can't drop any 1st teamer at the moment imo.
Hope they stay patient, because going to places like this, and destroying their
teams will get agents interested I think

I'd take problems like that any day given the utter shyte we've all been buried under since like what seems forever.

Some will get their chance, some wont, let CR & Smac work out the contracts and don't worry. In fact the sanctions in place could well open doors for some of the youngsters in the first team, we could have a run of injuries any time. Opportunities will come.

It's a good point, but would you drop anyone right now for any of those players? For me, you cant.

      That said.

      - Smyth has a good future ahead, still very young but is struggling to find a space in the match day squad.
      - BOS is in the squad, in and out, so needs to prove he cant hold a place.
      - Goss has been injured, but expect him to leave.
      - Kakay has been unlucky, but really only started because Furs was injured and once Rangel joined his time was limited. (Although, for me right decision)
      - Chair shows great signs of potential but we have better players in his role right now. e.g. Eze and Luongo
      - Niko H not sure he'll make it personally.
      - Owens I havent seen much, cant say either way.

      - Furlong would have been playing first team football, sadly he got injured.

On the whole, Macca made good decisions with the changes he's made.

We will need these young players, remember we can't bring anyone in during January and we will pick up injuries along the way.

I agree with all of this. Some loans out until January could have been a good idea for those that won’t be in the first team but as you says, their chances will come.

Seems to me that bringing as many home grown players through to the first team has changed. Under Olly that seemed to be a priority of the Board, but Smc seems to have changed that strategy with experience being brought in. I would expect most to move on. Smyth may go out on loan though.
