I can not believe this waste of space is still here.

Come to that I still can't believe we signed him. Another Les masterwork.

Certainly not in the same league as Les' Hamed and Wells signings...

Incredible how in his post match interview McLaren praised them both for their performances.

Set up the 1st? you make it sound as if he hit some great through ball or a difficult pass etc but all he did was play a short pass to BOS who went on his run before scoring.

Let's be clear here, he was signed to score goals because some thought he was good, but in truth he had just had a purple patch where he scored and that's all it was. He does work hard and he can pass the ball etc, so as Ted suggests, maybe he is more suited to play as a midfielder. What he clearly is not is a goalscorer.

With his ability to put the ball anywhere other than in the goal, I'd say he is more suited to being a goalkeeper.....

They wont mean anything unless we can sort the back end out, and for every good un there have been half a dozen missed or wasted opportunities.

The DoF has some responsibility for coaching staff and he hasn't distinguished himself in that department either.

His own appointment was as unjustified as CW's.

Eh? Always thought the first team coaching staff was chosen by the manager - that way they have people who work to their playing style / methods.

Sorry Washington, we don't want to lose you but we think you ought to go.
Smith does not do flick ons. He just heads the ball in some direction.

It would be interesting to look back at his Peterborough goals - maybe they played kamikaze football and he had a ton of chances. Main problem is he lacks composure when he gets his chances. Tends to try and hit the ball as hard as he can and not place it. Inevitably it goes straight at the keeper or over the bar. No issue with his work rate.

Agree, it is an understatement to say I was surprised that Mclaren praised them both! They were both very poor indeed. I can only assume it’s part and parcel of the politics of football - pretend they are good, even when they are not. Why? Because we are looking to ship them out and don’t want to put off potential suitors!!

Sylla and Wash especially must fall into the plural of “some players need to leave the club”. Can’t think of anyone else. Possibly Cousins and Pav also fitting into that group. Simple reason is all 4 have not really performed, or just not fancied for one reason or another, and all 4 are out of contract end of season and we want to try and get some money before they go for free.

When DoFs first evolved, their role was as much concerned with coaching and managerial appointments as transfer business. DoFs still have input, if not final approval over coaches brought in. Otherwise they wouldn't really be a director of football.
