  • On way home

We're off and running, what a difference to have 2 attackers who keep the opponents defence on their toes, some of our defending today was interesting, and not as yet to be found in any coaching manual.

Our 2 Centre halves are big lumps who one minute are commanding, next minute comedy.

Our main problem at times is giving away cheap unnecessary fouls and losing possession to easily.

luongo had another poor game, nothing is going right for him, no lack of effort from midfield 3, but sometimes very casual and careless with the ball.

Eze, super skillful but switches off to often, still not sure the team can have him and Freeman both starting.
Another defender and a tough nut in midfield and we will be fine.

Quick word on Lumley, improvement certainly, however not that commanding in the air, still clean sheet so well done to him.
Long way to go, however this forward line will now be a big threat, and should nick us a fair few away points.

    Luongo needs dropping mate
players should be picked on performance
Wslok needs to play so obvious supply the two new beasts up front

Good post Romford and pretty much how I saw it. Midfield needs a slight tweak and right now I think Luongo shouldn’t be playing and there’s a choice for SMC to make about ha ing Freeman and Eze starting in midfield at the same time.

How refreshing to watch the two lads up top and a great performance from the young Lumley.

I think he’s shite but today he done reasonably well in fairness to him. Still three or four unnecessary fouls from him but we never got punished

Yeah, it makes you wonder why he's never picked to start when everyone knows he is a quality player and we are crying out for some quality. Maybe on McClaren's first day at the club Pavel went around handing out brollies and talking in a dodgy Dutch accent......

True about the fouls. Both Bidwell and BFG had difficult game today.

To be fair to our defence, and put into perspective how good a clean sheet this is, only Leeds who are obviously flying, and West Brom who we gifted 7 to have scored more goals than Wigan this season. They are a lively and decent side who battered Stoke on their own patch in the week 3-0.

Loads of positive to take from this game today.... Broke the losing streak, 3 massive points, out of the bottom 3, new strikers looking quality, Lumley stated brightly and a clean sheet to build confidence in our defence who must've been crapping it after the last 7 days with so much pressure on them especially. They will take so much from this.

that first line is what I've been saying for years we give the oposing C/Bs too much respect these two give problems once the understanding comes they will give more time to the midfield ,

Haha. Ok, Maybe- But it baffles me that he hasnt been given a chance on the wing.. He chases everything when he is on form...

Tomer and Nahki highlighted just how poor our ‘strikeforce’ really is.... These two were a MASSIVE step up for us today. Congrats to both of them and let’s hope this awesome result kick starts our season. Kudos to Lumley and the defence for our clean sheet. Crowd played their part too. This was a HUGE win for our club. COYRs!!!!!
