This is my concern as well! Lot s of question marks in the side atm, who knows what our central defence will look like and if a couple more go (Luongo, Freeman) and we're relying on unproven youth this could be a recipe for disaster!

It's a fantasy rivalry which doesn't even exist beyond lyrics in a song. The games are not a hotbed of passion and if you walked around Cardiff city centre wearing a QPR shirt on a non match day you'd feel as intimidated as a cat drinking a sourcer of milk in front of a fire.

Honestly, if you think there's a rivalry of any sort you need to speak to some Cardiff fans and judge from their laughter whether it exists or not.

Being an England vs Wales fixture it will always be a bit
more than a visit to Crewe, for example, but to even believe that there is a rivalry is ridiculous...
Fantasy rivalry? Are you for real?
Seriously, going to their gaff is like running through Ethiopia waving a pork chop in the air.
Been there a few times, 1st early 80s, Ninian Park, last time play off final. Majority of them are low level scuss buckets.
They make Wall supporters look sophisticated.

Do you think we get special treatment from Cardiff fans???

They treat EVERYONE the same. There is NO rivalry with QPR and Cardiff. Zilch, none, sero (as the boyos say). I went there in the FA Cup in 1990 when they were throwing bricks at us outside in the car park but do you think I sit here thinking there's a rivalry with them or, alternatively, thinking that's what a trip to Ninian Park was like then for ALL supporters regardless of who they supported?

If you think there is just ONE Cardiff City fan who considers QPR as a rival you are mad. Plain and simple.

Why do you think the coaches still get a police escort if we are now all luvvy duvvy with them?

ALL teams get a coach escort out of Cardiff. QPR, Swansea, Spurs, AFC Wimbledon even Sutton United fans would... Seriously, if you think they treat us any different or even consider us as rivals you are honestly stark raving mad.

The sale of Smithies has been expected for a while now. I am not surprised at all. Howevet, I do agree with most of the posts sentiments that the fee is somewhat, low. Very low, compared to others fees being paid atm.

I don't see the rivalry either to be honest. Maybe it is a bit more than say Blackburn but I don't see it now. Maybe after the play offs and Langley etc but not now. They even ask why we sing about them.

Back to Smithies and agree 4 million seems too cheap if that is the case. Maybe we can get some good add ons and sell ons to make it better.

                    • Probably get another winger thrown in as a makewight
like the bloke who was at Norwich

                      • I agree £4m is a little light but for some perspective, Fabianski is an international goalkeeper and has played in the PL for a number of years - he moved for £7m so I woudl doubt we would be able to get the same for Smithies.

As it goes, I'm not fussed about Smithies going. Lumley and Ingram will be fine IMO.

                        • If we had Ingram in goal for the 46 games we would be bottom three material based on what I have seen of him. Getting the keeper right is hugely important as shown in the past by the likes of Parkes, Seaman, Stesjkal, Kenny and then Smithies. Good solid keeper breeds confidence through the rest of the team and for 4 million.

                          • I don't rate Ingram either, seen his calamity keeping against Blackburn the season before last, along with his inability to catch a ball last season.

We're not in a position to buy that striker without selling so what are you going to do? Robbo still not signed for another team and I'm sure he'll stay with us when his deal expires at the end of his week.
As long as we don't have a 70 goal a season defence
