  • Rebuild QPR around these 4 players

As we await a new manager, ponder the health of Grant Hall, assume Robinson and Smithies moving on, and acknowledge th 2017/18 contributions of Bidwell, Manning, Smyth and others, here are my picks for the 4 players to rebuild QPR into a contender: (1) Massimo Luongo -- he's made great strides this year to become a truly complete player & playmaker, and you just gotta love his character; if he's knocked down, he doesn't whine like most of them, he gets on with it; (2) Darnell Furlong -- we've waited for a few years to see him become the player he's now become -- consistent, committed, a great throw-in specialist, and an emerging leader on the field; (3) Eberiche Eze -- I know, I know, he's young and still largely untested -- yet his amazing skills, and ability to become a playmaker on top of it, make him our most important prospect and potential anchor -- he now needs a coaching mentor who can take him to the next level; (4) Matt Smith -- Didn't think I'd ever say this, but Matt is now a vital cog in the machine -- improving on offense, vital at times on defense, and looking more fit than ever. He just needs a consistent partner on the front line that Conor never was: fast, sure and with a nose for the goal.

With new investors we'll be buying Neymar within six weeks

Tanpa. The spine of the team is the most important part so Smithies has to stay and carry on being our number 1. Agree on Luongo and Eze but getting defenders in with a goalscorer is a priority.

Must keep Smithies, and sell Ingram if we have to. Top notch match winner is Smithies.

Of all the players mentioned by OP, think only Hall, Furlong and Smith will still be here come the start of the season. Smithies, Robbo, Eze, Luongo, think they'll be gone.

It will all really depend on how much money we really have to compete with as losing all those without decent replacements would leave us in serious trouble.

If Luongo is as good as some people think he is he wont be here next year, he would've moved on

He will move on if he impresses in the World Cup.

I agree though, that he has improved as a player this season and added goals to his game.

As for Smithies, I agree that he must be kept if QPR are to progress.

I am also keen on QPR keeping Scowen and Freeman as they are both good midfielders at this level and the latter can provide goals and assists.

Other players to keep are Wyzsolek, Eze, Sylla , Smyth and Chair and Manning.
I think QPR had a fairly decent squad last season, and I know it has been said a thousand times before, but were let down by injuries and a manager who insisted on playing a formation that was clearly not working. A few additions to the squad, especially in defence, and QPR can be challenging for the play offs next season rather than spending the whole season in the bottom 10.

Pretty much this, I think Scowen and Freeman are massively important and players we should be able to keep hold of. Be interesting to see how the new manager assesses the squad, if he can get the best out of the likes of Connor and especially Sylla as he's clearly a natural goal scorer and I think if set up right and given the chances should get 15+ next season.

Having watched the 4 play off teams I personally couldn’t see luongo getting minutes on the pitch for any of them!! Massively splits opinion on here. I think we’d be lucky to get 2-3 million for him. Agree Eze is going to be a “player”. Smithies is a must keep imo. Smith will always pose problems either starting or off the Judy.

I'm in the minority when it comes to Luongo. While I seriously doubt he'd ever start for Fulham or Villa he'd certainly get in a side ahead of Clayton / Besic or Huddlestone / Johnson
