  • Football fans have got it so wrong

All us fans are getting screwed by billionaires or wannabe-billionaires running football clubs into the ground from the luxury of their respective C-Clubs.
The issue transcends a single club. This isn't just about QPR for QPR fans, or Pompey for Pompey fans, or Liverpool for Liverpool fans. This is a battle for the future of football. And football fans have to realise that and unite.
In fact, the football industry is only representative of the current state of our politics and economics. The same is going on most blatantly in the banking sector. These people own us. They are spunking our money on private jets and med villas and laughing at us. And they think there is nothing immoral about it at all. They mock our anger and they laugh at our relative poverty.

So, football fans have responded by creating a pan-Club political organisation - the English Defence League. Are they angry at the people running football? The billionaires? No, they are protesting, rioting against their perceived Islamification of Britain. What they have done is swallow the line that the same elites feed them - in government, in the media (Don't forget Murdoch feeds them their football and their news - The Sun, Sky) - that terrorists are the enemy.
No! The capitalist elite are the enemy. We have to recognise that.

So, what's my alternative then? Is there anything wrong with a football that goes back to basics? That pays footballers a competitive but sensible wage? That charges fans an affordable seat and boots out the corporate hordes from the stadia? So, the foreign players and perhaps even the best English players go abroad. Has it done Germany any harm? They argue that there won't be as much money for facilities and coaches and grassroots football will suffer. I disagree with this. First, fans will have more money in their pockets to contribute to the grassroots game. Second, the best things are based on voluntarism and a relative lack of money will breed tighter community cooperation and voluntarism. Third, the people coming back to football will be more committed to give of their time and money for football.
Fourth, will might not have 3G astroturf in every village and McDonald's-sponsored coaches but we will have restored our pride and our morality. What I'm talking about is rescuing the soul, the morality, the humanity back for football.

There is a massive danger of the rise of a 21st century fascism. Poor immigrant people trying to make a new life are not the enemy. The enemy is the transnational capitalist elite running our clubs and our media, taking our money and mocking us.

    Food for thought...
