Someone will end up paying well over the odds by the end of the window
QBP 20th August 2009..."To be fair, I'm glad we are top of the table (for agents fees). Shows we are not a selling club anymore."

They might as well wait until the end of the season and save £1.5m

Why will they save £1.5M, Instead of the paying the signing in fee, Beckford will get the equivalent spread out over the length of his contract, just as Sol Campbell did when he left Spurs to go to Arsenal.

The reason why i would pay the money now is to ensure you get the player, if you wait tell he is out of contract and free much bigger clubs will be willing to take him on as there won't be a fee and therefore less risk.

TBH its irrelevant and always has been, we have not or are ever going to make a serious offer, that is the bottom line.

w12 do you think our so called 2.5m deal from Beckford was just pure spin?
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

we had the chance to get him when he was at wealdstone,GW and GP thought he was not good enough. The amazing thing is one of them is still in a position of power buying players for our club

Bit like our 'bid' for Hooper, we've never come close to bidding £2.5 million for a player since this board has come here.

We spunked our dough in Jan 2008, since then I would hazard a guess and say we have barely spent more than we have recieved for transfer fees.

Gorkks, Routledge, Faurlin, Helguson, Borrowdale = £2 million

                          Delaney, Blackstock, Camp = £ 2million.

Seems like the board thought they could make a quick financial fix and then loan the remaining players to get us promoted, clueless springs to mind.

Because Newcastle are gonna get promoted and don't need him as desperately as we do.
