How many has Steve Harper played for Newcastle in 10 years? Doesnt make him a bad goalie.

I don't believe wikipedia to be that accurate but reading the bio on him makes you think that he's always the bridesmaid and never the bride.

Brought in to the club to compete for the number one shirt and never took the opportunity so each Pompey manager has signed another keeper instead.

If we are signing a keeper purely to be number 2, I would much prefer Tom Heaton than Ashdown.

By 1999 when Harper was 5 years younger than Ashdown is now he had played more than 70 career matches.

Harper has played more than double the games Ashdown has.

Nope I was expecting Tom Heaton who over a long period would not only challenge Cerny but could be our number one for many years to come.

Who has Ashdown been no.2 to?

Wasnt Chris Day a no.2 at most clubs before he joined us? Seem to remember he turned out ok.

                            Your argument is flawed.

How many times have you seen Ashdown play Morris? We can all look things up on wikipedia and judge players without seeing them.

How about reserve judgement till hes actually kicked a ball.
