  • Vidar Orn Kjartansson wanted by Championship trio

Middlesbrough, West Brom and QPR are vying for Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Iceland striker Vidar Orn Kjartansson.

Kjartansson, 28, is available for around £3.5million and QPR boss Steve McClaren worked with him during his spell with the Israeli side.

Rangers may be priced out of the bidding and Middlesbrough and West Brom have the cash to bring him to the Championship to spearhead their promotion bids.

Kjartansson has netted 42 goals in his two seasons with Maccabi and was the top scorer in Israel in 2017.

The much-travelled forward, who has scored twice for Iceland, has also played for Norwegian side, Valerenga, Malmo and Jiangsu Sainty in China.

      My thoughts exactly.
Smith might not be pretty on the eye to watch but he is very effective at this level if you play to his strength

      • 3 mil for Smith would mean a 2.5 mil profit so could see us taking it. Lot of outrage on here when we paid 500k for him ;-)

Cardiff paid 6 mil for Gary Madine though so lets ask for 12

        • Good honest pro Smith. Defo worth keeping in squad if we can but silly offer we would have to consider. Smith out Martin in could be the plan

He was also very effective in front of goal when he played in Norway. But ultimately; this could be a deal which depends on what the club decides to do with Matt Smith? Will he end up at Boro?

Billericay and JET have denied there is a deal.

strange... maybe he’s just too lazy even for that level.

                Hope your right mate,

He is the tesco value of mercenaries.
Does not deserve to get another contract with his bum attitude.

Back to the dole que after he spunk what little savings he has left.

No we're not, we can't be, because we can't sign anyone because of ffp according to the trent thread,so this must be bowl-oks
We can't afford £750k so we won't be spending that

Unless we're still using some of the Smithies £3m or another player such as Luongo is on his way out. We are stil overloaded with midfielders. There's stil some transfer activity left yet.

If true a bid of £3 million has been offered he will be off,but I really hope not, I rate him as our best striker by a long shot

And then a free lump in Martin to replace him. Good trading if it comed off and frees up cash to bring in another striker.

                              • The big issue with Martin is his wages as he is on a good wack at Derby.
