    Genuine question.
    OK, I was intersted too so I've done a bit of research. I've tried to summarise it below;

Players in and out during the January 2013, Summer 2013, January 2014 and Summer 2014 windows, with their repective values, where available.

    January 2013
    IN
    Samba - £12M
    Remy - £8M
    Ben Haim - free
    Yun - £950K
    Jermain Jenas - undisclosed
    Andros Townsend - loan

    OUT
    Ryan Nelson - free
    Cisse - loan
    K Dyer - free
    Anton - loan
    Hulse - loan
    Faurlin - loan

    Summer 2013
    IN
    Simpson - free
    Dunne - free
    Henry - undisclosed
    Austin - £4M
    O'Neil - free
    Phillips - undisclosed
    Benayoun - free

    OUT
    Cerny - free
    Bosingwa - mutual consent
    Ben Haim - free
    Cisse - mutual consent
    DJ Campbell - free
    Samba - £12M
    Mackie - £1M
    Anton - free
    Derry - free
    Benayoun - released
    Bothroyd - released
    Hulse - released
    Chevanton - released

    January 2014
    IN
    Aaron Hughes - loan
    Dellatorre - loan
    Kevin Doyle - loan
    Will Keane - loan
    Maiga - loan

    OUT
    Taraabt - loan
    Diakite - loan

    Summer 2014
    IN
    McCarthy - undisclosed
    Caulker - £8.5M
    Fer - £8M
    Mutch - £6M
    Ferdindand - free
    Isla - loan
    Vargas - loan
    Sandro - £6M
    Kranjcar - loan

    OUT
    Remy - £10.5M
    Simpson - undisclosed
    Benayoun - undisclosed
    Granero - undisclosed
    Cesar - released
    Andrew Johnson - released
    Mbia - released

That's a total of £53.45M spent and £23.5M received, giving a balance of -£29.95M. But, I can't vouch for the accuracy of the figures quoted and there are 7 undisclosed fees in there too.
Above also doesn't include any youth players or business done outside the transfer windows, e.g. Niko's first loan period.

I'd say Harry or the club have done very well in the out bracket for 2013 seeing as so much was Dross or liability's

Indeed, but they are seldom in the public domain. There is likely also a huge add-on in terms of agent's fees, bonus's etc.. But this was really just to illustrate what Harry has done in terms of players in and out since he arrived.

I am also suspicious of any deal that is done by "mutual consent". I very much doubt whether these are done without any exchange of money between parties/agents etc..

Cheers Buffalo. I'd say in general Harry's got a very good record in the transfer windows considering we've been a relegation bound club, a newly relegated club and a newly promoted club - hardly going to attract most players!! Then of course there's not having a lot to spend.
                SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

Improving the squad is essential, a new training ground and stadium isn't! This has been wrong from day one. All this talk of 40,000 stadia and a state of the art training complex is absolutely a waste of time unless you're an established PL club, something we won't be for another 2-3 years, if we survive this season. The sooner the people high up realise this, the better, but I fear it's too late!
The board has improved the squad and has improved our current training facilities. However our training facilities are not adequate (that is mild way of saying it). It does not matter how many decent players you have if you do not have adequate training facilities. I think this is one of the reasons the players do not improve and get so many injuries.

Hmmm, interesting point, would you say Burnley or Bournemouth have better facilities?
