I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Remembrance Sunday is a week tomorrow , 9th November.

Don't get me started on why the BBC forces people to wear them from the middle of October every year.

Dilutes the meaning when it becomes compulsory. IMO

Take a trip to your local war memorial a week tomorrow and donate 2 minutes of your time to contemplate what those young men went through in both conflicts.
Professional soldiers nowadays sign up knowing what to expect, those young men marched off blindly into the jaws of hell .............. chokes me up every year.

(Cue history lesson from Kirill )

For us that would mean around 29k."

Back to my BBC rant ........

The Poppy has become 'commercialised' and now Poppy day is nearly a month long !

Bit like the supermarkets loading out their Chrimbo tut out in the middle of October .......... Arggggggggggh !

Oh dear, anyway agree with most that it should be next wkend. Dragging it on takes away the real reason to take time out and respect those brave men.

This year is special being the 100th anniversary since the beginning of the First World War. Don't know if any of you have visited the ceramic poppies at the Tower of London. It is very impressive if you can see them for all the crowds. They are getting about 100,000 visitors a day. We went to the Imperial War Museum yesterday and it was packed. We could not get into the First World War exhibit because they was not further allocation for that day. I know it is half term but it seems most people have not forgotten.

We visited Ypres (Wipers) earlier this year and until you go there you cannot appreciate the sacrifice that so many people made.

They still have a ceremony every evening at the Menin Gate, where all the fallen who have never been found.

There are dozens and dozens of cemetaries, each with their own story. The German cemetaries were the most dour and depressing.
