It does not seem a long time since Birmingham and QPR were battling around the same level, but they seen to have gone in opposite directions in recent years.

While are scrapping around mid-table in the Championship, the Blues have been climbing the Premier League table with big-money moves for players such as Ryan Babel and Kenwyne Jones on the cards this month.

I would have thought that the investment and ownership which we have at Loftus Road would have seen us reach the Premier League, but a constant changing of managers and swing-door player policy has done us no good.

While I sit at home in my front room and read opinions from football experts that Birmingham will finish in the top six, I have to wonder why we cannot follow the same principles they used to get up.

Birmingham and QPR are similar-sized clubs in terms of stature and history and I hope we can join them in the Premier League top ten in coming years.
