  • Stan Bowles Alzheimer's Fund

This GoFundMe page: https://www.gofundme.com/StanBowles has been set up by Stan Bowles’ family, in conjunction with QPR, to provide Rangers fans – and the footballing public at large – with the chance to show their support for the legendary former footballer, who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Since news broke in the summer of 2015 regarding Bowles' ill-health, the outpouring of affection and support for the popular maverick – who made 315 appearances for the Hoops, scoring 97 goals between 1972 and 1979 – has been quite overwhelming.

The Bowles family are encouraging supporters to split their donations between this GoFundMe account – for Stan’s daily welfare and ongoing care – and the Alzheimer’s Society: https://www.justgiving.com/alzheimerssoc - the UK's leading dementia support and research charity, to help raise awareness of the disease.

The GoFundMe account has been set-up with the help of the PFA.

    Thanks for you'R' support

Nottingham Forest raising awareness and funds for Stan

NOTTINGHAM Forest and Queens Park Rangers Community Trusts have teamed up to help raise awareness and funds for former player Stan Bowles in his battle with Alzheimer’s.

The combined efforts of both Community Trusts working together is a first in the game as both sets of fans unite to raise vital funds for the respected charities.

The Just For Stan Fund and local charity Bloomin Dementia as well as both Community Trusts will be beneficiaries of various activities throughout the day when the two sides meet on Saturday at The City Ground.

Bowles made more than 300 league appearances for the R's from 1972-79 before moving to Nottingham Forest where he was part of the 1979-80 squad that won the European Cup. Stan featured 19 times for The Reds, scoring twice.

The forward made more than 560 career league appearances in total, featuring for other Clubs such as Manchester City, Crewe Alexandra, Carlisle United, Leyton Orient and Brentford.

The Community Trusts from both clubs have come together to arrange events around the matchday. Collection points will be available on the day for supporters wishing to donate to the aforementioned charities.

Alternatively supporters can donate via the NFFC Community Trust Just Giving page here. All the monies received through this donation page will be shared equally amongst the four beneficiaries.

MARK Warburton says that his QPR squad will be fit and firing for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship clash away at promotion favourites Leeds United.

The R’s suffered their first defeat in four games on Monday night, losing out to Brentford in W12, but the boss insists that there will be no sign of a hangover when they walk out at Elland Road.

“It’s a demanding league; the games come thick and fast so you can’t be sitting there and feeling sorry...

“We have got to set the highest possible standards for ourselves. We gave away a really sloppy goal against Blackburn. From 4-1 and cruising, we survived a warning shot and we were loose and we have got to recognise that and be better.

“It was a good win going into the break; four goals, four different scorers and more goals for our front two. It was great for Brighty and Ebs [to score] too but we were loose on too many occasions.”

    Following the Blackburn...

AS MARK Warburton readies his troops for Blackburn this weekend, he has called on his players to “deliver a performance” in west London.

The R’s suffered a 3-0 loss at Cardiff City on Wednesday night and the R’s boss admits his post-match speech to the players was one that needed to be carefully considered.

“It was important we got the message right to the players,” Warburton explained.

“There is no denying we lost...

Final match before the annoying international break, both sides not in the best of RECENT form heading into this one. We failed to beat Luton and Forest at HOME, but from our point of view, I am hoping our AWAY DAYS are much more lucky.

Been impressed with QPR's start to the season, as I was worried about the amount of new faces coming in. However they have hit the ground running and are scoring plenty or goals and have been in amongst the top end of the table for the most part of...

“The fact of the matter is we have lost a game of football and it hurts. If it doesn’t hurt then you shouldn’t be in the game. The good thing is we have a very swift chance to make amends.”

MARK Warburton admits he and his squad are hurting following Saturday’s defeat – but they welcome the early opportunity to “make amends” when they visit Cardiff City on Wednesday night.

After four consecutive wins, QPR lost 2-0 against...
