Does anyone know how to do this?? I want to connect my new laptop to my xbox 360 so I'm trying to create an extender in windows media center but norton is acting as a firewall
Can you not disable your firewall or go into Norton and set it to allow.

i dont want to disable the firewall cos otherwise my laptop will be at risk. and i dont know which specific protocol relates to stopping it become an extender! its so ****** complicated for something that should be easy and no help on any google searches. i hav just realised i can put tv programmes i download on a memory stick, put that in my xbox n watch them on tv so not a massive issue but wud be nice if it was easy
you can go into the settings and allow it, which mean you disable the firewall for that connection and the firewall is still active.
You might have it on blocked.

this is what windows help says for my problem, under cannot find extender
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows7/Tips-for-solving-setup-problems-with-Windows-Media-Center-Extenders#cannot-find-extender
but i cant find any protocol under UPnP that is blocked
It's to do with your firewall settings and you have blocked it in the past, you now have to go into Norton and select this device to be set to allow, it really is as simple as that.
